Thailand is bringing its culinary heritage to Qatar with Thai Restaurant Week 2025: A Thai Culinary Journey in Qatar, a 10-day festival that runs from August 21 to 31. According to local news sources, the launch event was held at the Grand Hyatt’s Isaan Restaurant, where over 100 guests—including Qatari officials, diplomats, business leaders, and media representatives—were treated to cultural performances, live cooking demonstrations, and tastings of signature Thai dishes.
In his remarks at the opening, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, said, “This project goes beyond dining. It is about inspiring a passion for Thai food, honoring the creativity of Thai restaurants in Qatar, and promoting meaningful cultural exchange between our two countries. The Royal Thai Embassy is committed to further promoting Thai food and culture in Qatar in partnership with our local restaurants and with the support of our Qatari friends. In doing so, we also contribute to Qatar’s rich cultural diversity and strengthen the bonds of friendship between our peoples.”
The festival features fixed-price menus at QAR 39, QAR 59, and QAR 89, allowing residents and visitors to enjoy authentic Thai meals at different price points. According to The Peninsula Qatar, diners are also encouraged to post about their experiences on social media with the hashtag #ThaiWeekQatar, with prizes including dining vouchers and luxury hospitality packages such as stays at Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som and Waldorf Astoria Bangkok.
The Royal Thai Embassy’s official release confirmed that the initiative is part of a broader effort to promote Thai soft power, strengthen cultural understanding, and showcase Thailand as a leading global tourism and culinary destination.
With the festival continuing through August 31, organizers hope to engage both Qatari nationals and expatriates, encouraging them to experience Thai flavors in Doha—and perhaps in Thailand itself in the future.
