Phuket recorded 5.85 million tourist arrivals between January and May 2025, generating an estimated 223 billion baht in tourism revenue. The data reflects a 3.14% increase in overall arrivals compared to the same period last year.

Of the total visitors, 4.26 million were international tourists and 1.59 million were domestic travelers. The island’s hotel occupancy averaged 82%, and over 48,000 flights operated during the period—representing a recovery to 95% of pre-pandemic flight volumes.

June alone brought in 1.71 million tourists and more than 35 billion baht in revenue, further reinforcing the island’s position as a top-performing destination.

Key international markets included India, Russia, China, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and South Korea. Among these, arrivals from the UK and Australia saw particularly strong growth, alongside increasing numbers from Germany, France, Kazakhstan, and the US.

Looking ahead, Phuket is set to host a number of events aimed at boosting travel during the mid-year low season. These include SIP & SURF x Beach Break Kamala from July 25–27, a marine education initiative called Coral College on July 24, and Asia Link Sketch Walk Phuket from August 14–17, which is expected to attract nearly 800 artists from 26 countries.

The upcoming long weekend from July 10–13 is expected to bring in around 199,000 visitors, with projected tourism spending of approximately 2.89 billion baht.

Phuket has consistently led all southern provinces in tourism earnings this year. In just the first five months of 2025, it generated more than Surat Thani and Krabi combined. With nearly half of its 500-billion-baht annual tourism revenue target already achieved, the island is on track for one of its strongest years yet.
