Fried Chicken Still Rules Thai Deliveries as Matcha Tea Goes Viral

by ZOSMA News

Fried chicken remains Thailand’s favorite delivery meal, but tea-based drinks are now stealing the spotlight from coffee, with matcha and taro milk tea becoming runaway hits. Data from food delivery platforms in 2025 shows fried chicken still leading the charts, while viral drinks are reshaping consumer habits at record speed.

According to several news sources, Thai-style sukiyaki also broke into the top ten delivery dishes this year, posting 30% growth. On the drinks side, green milk tea overtook coffee as the most-ordered beverage. Matcha orders more than doubled compared to 2024, while taro milk tea with mochi went viral, driving a 530% surge in searches.

The appetite for matcha alone is staggering. More than five million orders were logged in the first half of 2025, matching the entire volume of 2024, and forecasts suggest the total could double by year’s end. Bangkok and nearby provinces recorded the highest demand, reflecting how regional tastes fuel national trends.

Analysts say social media is fueling the craze. Viral drink videos on platforms like TikTok and Instagram have turned niche flavors into mass favorites in a matter of weeks. For many restaurants and cafes, the challenge is keeping up with demand while balancing higher costs for specialty ingredients.

Thailand’s delivery market remains highly competitive, led by GrabFood and LINE MAN. Surveys show nearly one in five consumers orders three to six times per week, making delivery apps a key barometer of national food culture. The rise of fried chicken and bubble tea demonstrates how convenience, trends, and digital platforms continue to reshape everyday dining.
